Hi,

Dunno if its coz I dont know how to use this forum properly or if my settings wont allow it, but I have been trying to message you direct?!?!? I notice that you are scheduled to have the bypass on 28th with Mr Ammori at the Alex? How are you feeling and what pre op measures have you taken?
Look forward to hearing back x

Hi i just noticed this thread so i am sorry for the delayed reply:eek::eek:
If i am honest, i am struggling to stick to a pre-op diet. I am trying to do the slim fast untill i do the one they told me to do for 5 days before. I am just still getting tempted by foods, i feel like i want to eat food to say 'goodbye' to it because i won't be able to eat it after the op:confused::cry::confused: I just don't understand myself and i am so worried about failing after the op- but i wont be able to have a choice then, i will HAVE to make it work. I will just need to find another way to deal with all my feelings!
Has anyone else eaten lots before there op?? Or is it just me that is a failure?!:(
Oh i think i should shut up now...babbled on loadz!!!

You're not a failure, but you need to draw a line under it and get your head into it for the last week.

You don't need to say goodbye to any of the foods, I eat things that I want, just only tiny bits, and I don't miss any of them.

Lizzie, the last thing you want is to come round from surgery to find that they've not been able to complete the op due to your liver being too large. In all honesty that could happen if you have a fatty liver. BUT you have got plenty of time to turn this around and make it a success.

You CAN do this, get out all of the worries and fears and talk them through with us so we can help you hun x

I agree with shel, you still have time to get sorted and life afterwards will not be as drastic as you think. I went shopping today and looked at foods I would normally of bought and just did not fancy them one bit. The only things I miss just now is a ham salad sandwich and cockles....but hopefully when I have fully healed I will be able to have them anyway and if I cant I will cross that bridge....stick with it as best you can I worried my liver would be too big hence I asked them straight away in recovery if it had been done, xx

Thank you so much for your lovely, and honest replies! I think the problem is i don't have any confidence or belief in myself that i can do things, and just think i am going to fail. My mum is going to help me to do this though, and i AM going to do it!! hehehe!!
Thank you also to Claire for starting this, you made me feel very special!!:)

You can do it we have all been there !!! I am six weeks post op from Mr ammori and i am getting better everyday i struggled with the pew op but i managed it and i am now starting to introduce new solid foods your taste buds definately change and you dont always like the things you did before ! Please bare with it you will be fine

Look at the pre op as a very good friend guiding you the right way to surgery. Dont even think of it as a diet it is a life saving way of life and without it you may not get to have your life saving operation.

I did it the milk and yogurt way with plenty of water so i didnt have to think about anything.

Hiya Lizzie,
I know where you are coming from!! I always overeat obviously, else I wouldnt need to do this, but ever since I got my date less than a week ago, I've been cramming sugary, fatty stuff more than ever, as if I need to make the most of my pre op time. I too am worried that once I'm into 'protein shake phase' I'll be tempted. The advice from everyone though is vital I know. I've been told I only need to do the shake thing for 5 days before, should it be longer?
Keep in touch and I will be thinking of you! Good luck love x
Also, thanks to other posters on here xx

Hiya Claire!
I am so glad i am not the only one!!:D:D
They said that 5days was enough because the liver is an easy organ to moove so it didn't really matter if it wasn't shrunk- and i trust him that he knows his stuff because he is one the the UKs leading experts in obeistiy. So, 5 days is enough ;)
