Confused and panicking.

Welcome to minis, and Good luck rebirth whatever you decide. I am in Luton so cannot comment but the spire sounds great, go for it

Thanks all of you, I do really appreciate the support. I have tried to talk to my sister but she is so frightened of the 1:200 rate that she thinks I should try dieting and life style changes again. I am nearly half a century old and have spent most my life losing weight and then putting it all back on again. Your stories and support help me to see that this would be all worth while for me and my family.

Thanks for clarifying what LOL means.

I think Mr Ammori works out of both, but with him and Kath Rothwell at the Spire you have really got the dream team. I was one of the last to be done by them at the MRI and though I was/am really glad it happened when it did, part of me wishes I'd waited until the contract had gone to Spire. I really miss being able to call Kath for help and support.

Good luck and keep the board posted with your progress xxx

I've got my first appointment on Monday at the Spire. It is a group meeting with other potential bariatric surgery patients. I'm quite apprehensive about it and wondered if it is worth my husband having time off work to attend with me? Apparently if we still want to go ahead we get an appointment to see the nurse/dietitian in 2wks time.
Any recommendations as the best one for him to attend?

Hi Rebirth

You may find it useful to have someone else there that you can later check out what you heard at the meeting as all that information can be confusing after a time. He might like to hear the information first hand and if possible to ask questions himself.

Hope it all goes well for you

M

Thanks M, I think he will come with me and make the time up later.

Hi Rebirth
I met you tonight...Im Sally and after saying I hadnt seen you on here...I now see you! haha

Nice to meet you anyway, and keep us updated on your weight loss journey xx

Hi hunt saw you and you partner tonight, I would definately bring him along to all appointments. It will make him feel a part of the process and allow him to ask any questions he might have. I did mean it about Jason chatting with him, please let him know that he has another man who is a supporter to talk to!

Best of luck to you x

Great news that you have been funded by your PCT.

Kath will tell you Monday that some PCTs (Trafford for instance) only initially grant funding for the first stage which is the group meeting and then assessment with a Bariatric specialist nurse. Your PCT might not do it this way and I only mention it because it was a bit of a shock to us at the first meeting to hear that some of us had not in fact been approved for surgery, only assessment. You might want to check with them so you have the information before Monday.

If this is so in your case don't worry about it. Once you have met with Kath, if she feels you are ready to do your bit (And you are ready to do your bit) she will let your PCT know and they will then give you full funding.

As for your husband being there, well a very large factor in the success of WLS is the support from your family. If you can make them feel a part of it they will be more ready to give you the close support that you need.

Hope you enjoyed last night as much as I did

Give Kath my regards and good luck.

Hi Nic it was nice to see you and Jason. Malcolm was quite taken with you both. He can be a little shy but has said that he will contact Jason for a chat (I hope he does as he also needs support). You looked fantastic on Wednesday and it was nice to see you were healing after your fall. Thanks for the advice. You're a great inspiration to us all.

Hi Karlos, Thank you so much for this information, at least I won't be as shocked if this is the case.
I really wish I had met you last night. I didn't recognise you. I really enjoyed lat night and Malcolm realised that there are a lot of success stories out there. He was quite impressed by the stories he heard and those he spoke to.

Well I have finally managed to work out how to thank you all officially. I can't believe I never noticed the thank you button before. I seem to get a certain kind of blindness when I am on the computer. I thought the funny tree thing was the thank you!!!
I'm not feeling too good today. My BP is up and I also have a viral infection. I hope I am well enough to attend the meeting on Monday, I'm quite excited, despite being a little anxious about it all.

Thank you all for your support. I thought the meeting was very informative and it certainly has made my husband see things with new eyes. For me, just hearing your stories and seeing you all was very inspiring. I wish my sister didn't live so far away.

Hi all, I don't know if any one is reading this thread, but I had my first group meeting today at the Spire. It was very informative and helpful. Apparently they usually contact you after 2 weeks but I'll be away on holiday from Saturday for 2 weeks so this will be delayed. Apparently when you get the go ahead the wait isn't too long. Hopefully I might get my op before Christmas. I can't have it prior to October as we are going to France for 4dys to celebrate my 50th. I'm also going to ensure I don't lose anymore weight as if I'm under the 40bmi they won't do the op. I have never needed a reason to enjoy food on holiday. I'll just not go over the top.

Thank you, you are such a sweet lady. I too hope Malcom contacts Jason, people sometimes forget the journey of the supporters!

That all sounds like it is going well, good for you. How is your infection & your BP? Hope that you are taking care of yourself. And can I just say I would never believe you are turning 50, you have the most lovely skin like a much younger woman. I would definately shave off at least 10 years from that number maybe more! I will cross my fingers for a Dec date.

Hugs,
Nic:):):)
