dedicated bariatric depts

Hello all. Does anyone know which hospitals in the South of England (inc London) have a dedicated bariatric department?

The Whittington Hospital in north London is one of the largest bariatric departments in the UK. They now have 4 bariatric surgeons which I reported on a previous thread a few weeks ago:

However, due to the popularity of the Whittington it now has a very long waiting list. (It was 16 -18 months when I was referred in Jan 2011; I believe it is more like 18 - 24 months now.)

I believe that UCLH and St George's Tooting, as well as Chelsfield near Orpington also have dedicated bariatric departments .... but hope that possibly a few other forum members who know more about those hospitals might be along soon! :)

Homerton. I'm under Mr Manur. The team are fantastic, even have specialist bariatric physiotherapists. If you need any more info let me know.

Uclh has a dedicated bariatric department, they have 3 or 4 consultants + a bariatric fellow, 2 cns and all the usual support networks. They aim to operate from first referral within 9 months.

I had my op at Charing Cross hospital in Hammersmith (London) and they had there own biatric department.... they have since moved the whole department to St Mary's in Paddington x

Thanks everyone for your input. I was thinking the Whittington because I was impressed by the surgeon's expertise and research. However, a 2 year wait would be so frustrating. Anyone know the waiting times at Homerton, Imperial and C&W?

It's taken me 18 months from going to gp to being referred to st george's tooting and op this august, not sure what waiting lists are like else where

I was just a year from referral appointment to surgery at Homerton.
