Hi all
Well im day 3 post op now and feeling ok.
I went in for my op at 7am on monday morning the 22/6/2009, i was admitted to the surgical admissions lounge , the staff on there were lovely, i met a wonderful woman who was also having a bypass and we chatted for quite a while.
I was 2nd out of 3 on the list but this was later changed as the woman after me required a HDU bed and i didnt so in the end I went third, but in all honesty the time flew by and i was able to get myself together and just enjoyed listning to my i pod.
Before I went to theatre i had all my usual observations checked I was given an antacid medication and a blood thinning injection, i was seen by the anaethatist and by Mr Ammorri who were all lovely, it was at this point I nervously signed my consent form and was also informed again about all the risks of surgery etc.
The anaethatist also told me that when i wake up i may have a blue face and hair ???????? lol this is because they isert die into your new pouch to check for any leaks but apparently it sprays everywhere !!!!
I was finally taken to theatre at about 12.50 I walked down with a very very good looking theatre nurse and of course I was looking extra stunning with no makeup on and a lovely green gown and white TED stockings lol
I was taken in to the theatre were i was greeted by another hunky theatre nurse and then the anaethatist came in who was also good looking I was in hospital heaven !!!
They took my observations put stickys on my chest and were commenting on my very brown belly lol i was so embarressed. the anaethatist put a cannula in my hand and commenced an infusion which i believe had Fentanyl in which is a pain relieving drug that also relaxes you, he told me to tell him when i felt all nice !!!!
I didnt dare say i been feeling all nice since being in here with 3 hunky men . hehe sorry i will continue ...
I told him when i felt all relaxed and he began to give me the anaesthetic, he used a full syringe and i was very aware they were all looking at me and i wasnt asleep i just kept smiling, then ........................................................
............................................................
I woke up in recovery at 6pm I had been in theatre a very long time for some reason the operation had taken well over 4 hours !!!!
I was in agony ii was crying and writhing around all over the bed I was also wretching couldnt styop feeling sick it was awful, the anaesthetic nurse was amazing and she got hold of the anaethatist who gave me one off doses of morphine to help the pain and I ended up with a cocktail of antisickness medication as they were having trouble getting this under control.
The nurse was fantastic i wish i new her name because she deserves a great big boquet of flowers, she kept getting the anaethatist back until my pain and sickness had settled.
I was told my husband was nervously waiting for me upstairs and i was so pleased he was there for me as he had to go straight away in the morning when he dropped me off.
I had iv fluids up and PCA (patient controlled analgesia) which is a button you press that administers morphine i also had inflatable things on my legs which went off about every 10 mins or so these help prevent DVT.
Eventually i was taken to the ward B2 and i remember as i was being wheeled their on my bed opening my eyes to see my amzing handsome and supportive husband walking next to the bed with me, i was so pleased to see him, he squezzed my hand and told me he loved me .....
I will continue with rest later and bring u up to speed with whats happening now on day 3 xxxx
