My surgery being filmed!

I am under Heartlands hospital and have my surgery booked for May 20th. Heartlands diabetes centre is going to be taking part in a TV documentary. Last week I met with the producer of Panorama. They are going to be including my surgery story in a programme about type 2 diabetes. So my surgery and my journey will be filmed. I'm a little nervous but mostly excited! How bizarre!!

That sounds amazing! I do think about how m y surgery was, I've seen it on you tube and on TV programme but I want to see mine! Does that sound weird and a little bit freaky!?

I think it's mostly exciting and an opportunity to educate those who don't value the role of bariatric surgery. Panorama make pretty sensible and balanced programmes and just think, your surgery may enable some people to change their lives for the better!

I've got my surgery on the same day!! Not long now.

That'll be so surreal seeing yourself being operated on but pretty cool too.
Any programme that can educate the public about WLS and why we make the choice to do it is a good thing. You're very brave

Thank you folks. I guess there's a chance I'll end up on the cutting room floor, as they said they always film more people than they use, but we'll just have to see what happens.

Thanks Lin, I was beginning to think it was never going to happen, it kept being put back! I'm so excited.

I can't find my way around this new site though, lol. How are you doing after yours? Any tips/advice? Xxx

Hi Shaz, I know how that exciting feeling is. Not to long to wait now.
I had a couple of rough weeks but mainly due to the anaesthetic. I have followed everything I was told to do to the letter and it's the best thing I have ever done, I have had my first stall but at six months down the line with only 4lb to lose to get to my target weight I'm not too disappointed. Just take each day at a time. This site was invaluable and I took great inspiration from Niccie, she also has some food diaries that helped. Xxxx
