Sleep apnoea concern

Hi mazza. You are doing fantastic - great weight loss. I am yet to get into the puree stage proper after all the acid reflux issues. Just cooked a shepherds pie - blitzted all the ingredients apart from the meat so it is as smooth as possible and then going to divide it up tomorrow into small containers and freeze. I am shattered and wondered why I started cooking after a day at work:rolleyes:. Anyway it is done. I enjoyed trying out my new cooker:D.

I am trying to organise things now I am back in work to make sure I get enough in during the day. I have no apppetite and could easily go the whole day without anything.

Keep up the good work.

Best wishes

I'm approaching my 7th wk post op and everything is going great food wise, enjoying soft foods etc so all good. Scales not moved in over a week though but I guess it's because I'm eating a little more substantially now than when on purée. Hoping it'll catch up.

I've not told anyone this but I'm feeling really down lately. My periods are all over the shop and could cry at the drop of a hat. I thought I would be full of energy given the amount of weight I've lost but I'm still lethargic and don't want to go anywhere or socialise :( not really sure what's going on :(
Xx

This reaction seems to be part of the reaction to having the op for no apparent reason, apart from an imbalance in the hormones. I'm 13 weeks now and I still have my moments. In the early days I was so down I even contemplated ending it all, not something I have said openly on here before now. I have had good support from my husband and family and I feel so much better now. I have read others stories who have suffered more than me but we are all individuals and we all feel different. I have never suffered with depression in my life so you can imagine it was very frightening to feel so down it was my husband who picked up on it because when your in it you can't see it. I did talk to my Gp about it so he was aware. If you find it does get to much go and talk to your Gp it's not all about taking pills, just knowing its normal and you will get to the other side of what's been a traumatic time for both your mind and body helps you to feel better. So you are normal and you will be ok I've been where you are now but you will get there. You won't loose weight every week but you will notice the inches will show, your clothes will start to look to big that's why it's important to measure yourself because you can see it that way. Don't get hung up on the weight side I went weeks with out any loss then 8 pound went missing but that is how it goes, I've lost a few pound over the past few weeks not even suer how but put one on then off it comes again but the inches are melting away so don't worry about it your doing great :)

Thanks TB, how you getting on now? Hope things are improving food wise for you x

I am still struggling making progress. I just cannot get enough in nutritional wise.

I am sorry you are feeling so low. It is the body reacting to the massive and rapid weight loss. May be worth seeing your GP for a chat as mouse suggests. Otherwise it means waiting until your WM appointment.

Hope things improve for you.

Best wishes

Oh Hun, that is totally normal to feel like that! I didn't get my energy back for ages. I expected that after the first month and initial loss is be back in the gym jogging away for ages and totally full of energy, but in all fairness I struggled with my easiest gym class.. Your hormones will be haywire due to periods and your periods will be all over right now due the the stress of major surgery and the weightloss too..you should be ready for b12 injections now I would think? Call your team and ask then get intouch with you GP if you haven't already started them. It took me a lot longer to feel 'normal' a lot longer than I expected! Then o was hit with the gallstones! I now, almost a year later!! Feel back to my normal self without the extra pains! Lol it will settle down xxx big hugs Hun, you know you can message me if you need to xxx

Oh and, when you are on a stall, you are more than likely losing inches! It's just the way your body copes and catches up with the weightloss xxx

Thanks everyone.
Mouse that must have been difficult to share, bless you. I appreciate your support.
I'm not bothered about the weight loss if I'm honest, I trust in what I'm doing. The emotional side is another story. I will see how I go and spk to docs if it continues.
Thank you girls really appreciate it xxxx

Mazda it's not an easy to to admit but I have learnt that on here it's about sharing and helping others and if that is telling a big secret than that's how it should be. I know how I felt and I'm suer that there are others who might have felt the same. But knowing that you are in the same situation can help. I hope you feel better soon just take each day as it comes :)

Hi guys, hope you're all well.
Me, I'm doing better emotionally. Still having bouts of tears but not as bad as it was.
TMI alert - period has been scarily heavy for about a week, at one point was having to wear 4 towels at once and changing every hour! I went to the WIC as docs closed at time and they gave me some tranexamic acid which apparently clots the blood, still heavy but on third day and not quite as bad.

Hit the 7 stone Mark this morning!! Yippee I am trying to enjoy my loss but can't seem to fully as feel like I was a failure to get to the size I was in the first place so why should I be happy when I've still got about 10 stone to lose! I need to get a grip and stop sounding so ungrateful because I most certainly am not but the journey is a mind bender lol.

On a positive note people are really noticing my weight loss, I work as a manager in a call centre and the amount of staff that keep telling me how fantastic I look is overwhelming, it still makes me incredibly uncomfortable but I secretly love it Lololol

Went into normal food stage this week. Had a hairy moment with chicken dinner tonight as was rushing to get ready for work and it seemed to get stuck - subsided after about an hour but the chest pain and nausea wasn't nice - lesson learnt!!!

Hope everyone is doing well and looking after themselves xxx

Hi mazza

Sorry to hear about the period issues. Hope it clears up soon. Had my post op appointment at WM last week. Saw Mr Khan. Evident he did not do my op and the notes were not up to date so he started to tell me he was disappointed that I had only lost 1kg since op:eek:. I would have been disappointed too if it was true! He was embarrassed but we laughed about it afterwards. Got to go back in two months. He told me to take my time through the stages given how much I am struggling. Not drinking enough fluid and still not going beyond mushies.

You are doing so well. Keep up the good work.

Oh no!! So disorganised!
What did the do in the appointment? Just chat and bloods? I'm really paranoid about stripping off lol and hope he doesn't want me to.
I can't believe how it's been for you, I'm so sorry.
I'm on normal food now, and still losing. Hit 100lbs gone.
How much have you lost?
Hope things get better soon hun it must be getting you down x

I got weighed and that was it. In all the years I have been going to WM they have never done blood tests. I get mine done with my GP. Got a GP appointment this morning to check my BP and to get the results of the blood tests done recently. They are much better at monitoring things overall than WM.

Things have not gone as smoothly as they could have but I am trying not to worry about it on top of everything else. I looked back to when I started my first pre op diet at the end of July. I didn't start weighing until August so from the first recorded weight I have lost just over 5 stones so far - so despite everything the weight is coming off!

I am more worried about the acid reflux. If I eat my evening meal earlier and don't eat or drink anything after I have taken my evening meds about 9 pm it is not as bad so I need to experiment and see if that helps.

You are doing brilliantly - keep going.

TBx

I'm a little concerned that they haven't done your bloods! That's terrible considering what you've been going through! I'm just glad your gp is on the ball.
Thank you TB. I genuinely hope things get easier for you. I heard that acid reflux can be a problem with the sleeve :( that's an amazing weight loss, hopefully you feel better for it. Keep me posted on your bloods etc keeping things crossed all ok xx

I don't have my bloods done at any of my post op appointments.. I just go to my gp and get them done there.. I went to my first POA and got weighed, spoke to the nurse and dietician and that was it. I thought I'd go, get bloods done, have my wounds checked etc.. But nope.. They asked how my eating was, if anything doesn't agree and if I had any questions.. That was it.. The rest of my appointments have been with just the dietician.. I get weighed and asked the same sort of questions. they arnt very helpful as the new dietician is really young and I don't think she has much knowledge on wls.. In my opinion anyway.. She just replied 'I think you're doing well, just keep up with how you're going' :/ sometimes don't see the point in the appointments lol xxx

Thanks Kirsty. Bless ya.

I've got my 8 wk post op tomorrow although it's actually 9.5wks lol. Am hoping I'm on track!
Lost 102lbs in total since start of pre op diet. 42lbs since surgery...
