I could not believe it when i spoke to the secretary today - 9 days to go !!!

I've spoken to a couple of people who have postponed their ops until after Xmas so it doesn't ruin their Xmas! Could be 1 reason?!!

Think the surgeons have booked long winter breaks ... who cares as long as everyone gets their op tout suite .... :):)

i havent had a date BUT spoke to sian at the heartlands who is the surgery co-ordinator they are trying to work to the 18 week rule..... maybe the same for all the others... i know there is a shake up with PCT and stuff so... maybe they are going for a clean sweep!! i await with bated breath alog with all the rst of us who havent been so lucky!!!!

I can only think that my hospital are bucking the trend then! Was sooo disappointed on Monday when I was told that I wouldn't be at the top of the list until the middle to end of December despite having previously been given an op date in September. Have been really intolerant of everyone since then so god help anyone who crosses my path this week!

Really interested to hear what the surgeon says when I see him on Thursday as I don't know what to believe when I speak to the woman in central bookings as she tells me something different each time and can't answer the most simple if questions!

I just hope I'm listened to as it's been 50 weeks since I went to mdt and, in all that time, the only thing I've waited for was 1 psych appointment which happened 4 months ago.

I'm so frustrated that I went out and bought chocolate cake, though I've not eaten it yet, it's just sitting there on top of the fridge smiling at me!

Argh!!

My hospital have changed my date 3 times, each time getting nearer, and I have also been offered 2 cancellations, first one I couldn't take as I hadn't started milk diet yet and second one is Tuesday which is now my date, when my original date of November 1st comes along I will be well comfy on that losers bench already :)

I am really pleased for everyone else who has had cancellations and I have my fingers crossed for plenty more calls for those waiting in the next couple of weeks :)x

Nooooooo! don't do it!!

You know you'll regret it and they'll never know anyway, you'll only upset yourself not them:(

Keep the faith and plugging on, your time will come and it will all be worth the wait:):)

Thanks Sarah,

At the moment I'm letting it torment me but not seccumbing to the temptation!

Want to see a few more (or should that be less) lbs on the scales when I go this week - have 2 more appointments ahead of me just have to hope my notes make it the right clinics in time as they're not at the same hospital!

Tatiana

Just keep at them :):)

You'll wear them down eventually and they say Just let the b****y have her op LOL!!

Good luck x

That's what I'm hoping the surgeon say on Thursday when he hears about how I've been messed about - and it's not just the admissions department!

They sat on my notes for 8 weeks between the psych appointment (that I had to wait 8 months for!) and going to mdt for the second time - despite the psychiatrist saying he'd present it at the meeting the following week

They then gave me pre-op assessment date just 2 weeks after putting me on the list - and after giving me a date for September saying that the surgeon had 4 patients they wanted to 'do' first then the list was open.

At pre-op find out I'm having hiatus hernia repaired but, as I've not seen a doctor since my one and only appointment in September last year - which was before barium swallow, I've never been told I have a hernia that needs repairing!

Now told I was never that far up the list and earliest I will be at the top is middle to end of December if the list runs at the rate it is at the moment - the way it's been messed about so far I wouldn't put it past them to decide not to do me until 2013! Oh, and pre-op assessment will need to be re-done as it will have run out before I get a date!

I wouldn't mind but people referred more than a year after me are higher on the list despite having no more co-morbidities than me and being discussed at the same mdt as me!

Sorry if I sound like a green eyed monster but I feel that way at the moment! Rant over (for now at least!)

Tatiana

well the postmans just been .............. my 6 week appointment with the surgeon and dietitian was meant to be for next week got two letters saying that that appointment has been moved to december now ................good follow up from the l&d :(

And, of course, it arrives on a Saturday when you can't do anything about it for 2 days and then they hope you have forgotten to do anything about it by the time Monday comes around!!

I hope you get to speak to someone and find out why a 6 week follow up appointment suddenly becomes a 3 month follow up appointment!!

Tatiana

Thanks to all of the people on this board, I contacted my surgeons secretary as a letter with an appointment for December 23rd had arrived , 5 days after being told I would be having surgery within 10-12 weeks.
I knew that had to be a 'blip' in the appointments system as was expecting an appointment for the Lipid/Obesity clinic for pre-assessment.
I wouldn't have know the system had it not been for all of you on here !
Seems we have to be on top of our game when it comes to keeping an eye on how things are going?
Having said that, I am hugely greatful for the NHS and the help they will be offering...just wish we could all be 'done' sooner rather than later ! :)
