You Saved My Life!!

Hi

I've lost 4st 10 since the op, 1st during milk diet an 1st prior to the that just getting ready. It's took till about now to get used to things, some days I can eat 1 thing the next I can't eat it. But I stuck to the dietician/surgeons instructions all the time and Ive had no problems at all. I had to have to open surgery due to carrying all my weight around my middle they said, I was 28 st at the start of this. I was only in hospital 2 days an recovered really quickly. If I had to do it all again I would, In the 2 years prior to having the op I only left the house to go to work an didn't go anywhere socialising with friends or family. I only shopped online as people thought it was acceptable to be rude in tesco etc an rather than be upset I just didn't go out. There's no stopping me now, I'm in the pub, restaurants wherever I fancy going I go! I have found joining this site very helpful as people always are there with advice an support an you need anything you only have to ask xx

Omg you've done amazing so far well done!!
You had an incredible recovery wow! Fingers crossed I have the same as I'm really dreading the first few days. And to recover that quickly with an open surgery? Fantastic!
I do the whole online shopping thing too lol I hate going to the stores and trying things on!
Up until recently I basically hadnt left my home for 2 years as I was scared of the comments and looks. People on here really encouraged me at my lowest and I ended up going to Berlin and Amsterdam in May with my friend and sister and did things I hadn't done in years like get on a plane, a train, and a bus. Even went to a concert and was in one room with 17,000 people and my idol.. Amazing given my social anxiety. Those few days made me a bit more confident and since I've been back I've been walking around my area more and going out with Mum on weekends :D
I can't wait to be where you are and literally just do what I want and go wherever I want and feel confident. Must be so nice cos we kind of imprison ourselves sometimes. This site is just the best! It's nice to know I'm not alone in my head.
Keep on as you are! By the time I'm 4 months out you'll be near goal!! Yay!

Oh also guys I have a weird lil story cos my op isn't actually supposed to be so soon. My original surgeon was Ms Chang at Kings. She's lovely and a few people on here had their surgeries done by her. About a month ago a got a bit cranky having not heard anything so I called the admissions team and was told I wasn't on the admissions list yet so I probably won't hear from them til September/October. She said that my surgeon does off site bariatric surgery and I may be on that list so should call tommorow when her colleague is back, I did and was on that list, great! She said I should hear from them within a couple of weeks and my surgery wouldn't be long now so I waited...
I didn't hear anything so I called again 3 weeks later, she said Ms Chang's list was full for August and September surgeries had been cancelled whatever that means so I was looking at October/November now. I was a lil peeved of course but I didn't get myself down about it cos it's out of my control.
A week later I get a call from Kings saying the list has been gone over again and as I have no co morbidities my surgeon thinks I'm healthy enough to go to a private hospital but would I be comfortable having my surgeon done by Mr Hasani, the name rang a bell I figured it was from this site so I said yeah sure! She said Chelsfield would be handling everything now but they are "looking for patients" so it shouldn't be long. Another wait but I felt better that they had called me and not the other way around Lol!
So I'm telling my Grandma the news and it hit me.. Before I went down the NHS route I met Mr Hasani in Harley Street when I was going to go private and get the band. He was very stern and I remember him saying that he suggests the bypass and I suggested he should smile cos he made me feel uneasy.
One week later (This Wednesday) I get a call at 10:15pm.. I wasn't going to answer funny enough but I did and it was a lovely lady from Chelsfield saying her next available date is the 10th of September.. We had a lil laugh about me being discharged on Friday 13th and being on pre op for my birthday and here I am ;)
So a year and a half after being told £10,000 I get to go private with the original surgeon hahaha.. Hopefully he doesn't remember me as I don't think he appreciated my remark :')

I've heard nothing but good things about him and had researched him before I met him last year. He's very straight to the point and so experienced I'm excited to have him. Plus I heard he's good for minimal scarring! Yay! Lol
How are you feeling at the moment? Is recovery going well?!

His team at chelsfield are great, nurses very friendly and cheery! Specially Sheila and aichen. I'm recovering well, I've just started mushies, finding it quit hard, not liking mushed up food lol!

I hope I am near goal when your 4 months out! You have done amazing with your self confidence just think what you'll be doing this time next year!! I really am so happy for you. Great news about the surgeon too, I nearly paid privately just asked my doctor about a bypass on the off chance thinking there was no way an was approved, yes I had to wait but it also meant I wasn't worrying about the debt if I'd of paid an I was in the right mindset to do it xx

Thank you Chrisa, seriously you've been so kind to me and helped me so much, I appreciate you. I've been walking loads today I'm going to nap soon, keep telling my Dr I'm scared the pain will creep up on me as I've only taken paracetamol today haha. Might take something stronger just as prevention.
But yh I'm so excited this has been the best birthday present ever ever ever!! So glad I made it out of my funk. How are you? I have PM now so msg me anytime

HI Chyna I am fine thank you my journey is progressing and back to normal. I am now 2 years post op. I only had paracetamol too. Keep moving around help stop the wind pains they can be awful. No lifting at home you will feel quite tired so just go with it sleep when you can its the best way to recuperate, cannot tell you how pleased I was to read your statement that you had had your op. You have overcome so much and I am sure you will not regret it just embrace all life has to offer and yes what a wionderful birthday present. The main probs now is going to be constipation (for most that is) keep the water going in most important. prune juice is excellent n natural for constipation the sunsweet can be bought in asda and you could dilute it down until you can take it easily it can be thicky and gloopy, really does work though, nothing worse than constipation in the early days preparation is the best way to prevent it believe me its not nice. xxx

Welcome to the losers bench hun :) I'm so pleased fpr you.

Glad to hear you're ok and doing better yourself you deserve it!!
Ahh I'm just feeling the wind pains.. My surgeon said no water for 24 hours and I wasn't feeling the wind before but now they've got me sipping water and all if a sudden bubbles galore on my insides lol! Deffo no regrets I'm feeling better by the hour just this drip in my neck that's annoying me a lot :(
I definitely need to sleep I'm so tired but trying to walk around as much as possible. Thanks for the juice tip, they've given me laxitives just incase but I dnt want to upset my new tummy with something so harsh so I'll remind my mum to pick that up.
This is just so exciting I can't believe it's finally done. My surgeon did say that my op was difficult even though I had no complications and that he almost abandoned it but he was glad he didn't, which of course freaked me out cos I would have been devastated had I woken up n not had the op. It just makes this little bit of pain and discomfort that much more worth it! I'm definitely a lucky girl right now

hOPE you have had a good nights rest and feel refreshed today will be so much better once your drip is out. Keep turning from one side to the other when lying down helps the wind move round n out, ask for peppermint tablets. So pleased surgeon completed it xxxxx

Not enough sleep unfortunately but the drip is out n the wind is budging, I've been walking around and rocking back and forth. They didn't have the peppermint tablets It still doesn't feel real but I'm getting on great all the staff are surprised lol. Managed to put on 6 pounds of gas and fluids but I'm sure that will be gone and some in the next couple of weeks. Had some soup and milkshake today and looking forward to going home in the morning :D yay!
