She will advise you based on what you weigh, the food you eat your general lifestyle which would be most beneficial to you, wether she agrees with the band or not she will tell you, but they don't force you into it its still your decision but they know better than we do so there info is valuable, don't go on your own if you think you mig ht not remember everything its a lot to take in especially when youre anxious we all forget things. good luck xx

I don't have white coat phobias and I am nervous every time hun. We put so much energy, emotion and hope into this journey, its impossible not to get a few nerves now and then :) I can only imagine how much worse it is when you have a phobia :)

I have my appointments today and I am SOOOO nervous, but excited also! I had nightmare visions of the dietician saying I wasnt eligible for a band and refusing my surgery! Can they even do that if I'm paying?

I had a right result this weekend, as I have had a PPI claim in for a while and had given up hope of hearing anything, when I got a letter to say I had been awarded £1700!!! That pays my dad back a good chunk of what I will owe him for paying for my surgery - although it would have been nice to use that money on a holiday or something! ha!

Eek! I have a butterfly-ey tummy today!

No they won't do that..they're a business afterall and want our money more than ever!! They love us private people wondering in with the wads of cash we've had to beg scrimp n save for!!

Reclaiming ppi has never been so easy...the banks simply roll over on it...lame really but that's the press and pressure of current climate etc!

I wouldn't buy much else...I had normal Heinz soups versus cup a soups and were fine with these and by the time your feeling better you can always get more once you see what excites your taste buds!!!

I've seen the dietician and the clinical nurse specialist this evening and I'm exhausted - didn't get home till nearly 9pm. Basically I am starting my pre-op diet tomorrow and it's NOT the milk diet! It's called the "real food" diet. I'm allowed to have food from a list and have to include 3 carbohydrates, 2 protein, 2 fruit, 3-5 vegetables and 2 milk. In a way, I find this harder than the milk diet as where there are choices/options there is the chance to make a mistake. However I have put together tomorrows food plan and it is as follows:

Breakfast - 1 slice toast with spread or jam
Mid morning - apple
Lunch - chicken salad with a piddly amount of pasta (9 pieces to be exact)
Mid afternoon - orange
Dinner - roast chicken breast with two egg sized potatoes and vegetables
Evening - shape yoghurt

I'm probably going to be slightly stroppy and hungry tomorrow while getting used to these smaller portions and I'm probably going to be bored to the back teeth of chicken but I'm determined to do my best!

Well it's going well so far! I had a slice of toast with a scraping of Jam for breakfast and just really enjoyed my salad with chicken and pasta that I made for lunch. I really took my time and chewed each mouthful lots of times, and i am no longer hungry! That never happens to me! I also really tasted EVERY bite instead of just wolfing it down! Why did I never do this before?! I have some fruit to have throughout the afternoon, as I didnt feel hungry enough to have my mid morning snack! I am going to a band and bypass support group this evening, that is part of my package, so i'll try to have a bit just before I go!! I am SO focused!! WHOOP!!

Good luck! I asked to switch onto milk diet as couldn't stomach this one by day 2! Lol I was heaving at salad n veg without sauces etc :)

Lisa, I have a similar ish pre op diet, anything as long as it is 1000 calories or less. In my head I think I would be better doing the milk diet as I have no choices, even though I don't like milk very much!

Hope the group goes well? Wish there was something like that here

Hi Sar the group went really well thank you! Everyone was lovely! It was mainly bypass people there but we had a talk by a dietician about portion sizes etc so that was really useful. I am attaching a photo of my dinner that I had on a side plate tonight! I'm really pleased with how my day has gone - long may it continue! I didn't even have my yoghurt this evening as I wasn't hungry!

So day two of the pre-op diet is also going very well. I had my normal toast for breakfast with a scraping of jam on it. For lunch I had half a chicken breast cooked in garlic on salad (same as yesterday) and I have been thinking what I can have for dinner. I dont want chicken again, as I dont want to get bored of the same old thing every day, so for dinner tonight I am planning on having tuna, sweetcorn, rice and veggies. It might be pretty dry, but I was told to add a tiny bit of natural yoghurt to the tuna to make it bind. I am actually thinking that for the last week of pre-op I might do the milk diet. Can anyone give me the exact details of it? I'm scared I wont lost any weight, although I am putting my best effort into this and am totally focussed

Can't remember my exact volume but do recall working it out to have 8 mugs of milky coffee a day and 2 muller lights! Weird but kind of enjoyed it....latte on tap :)

I do love a latte! skinny of course!

I got my pre-admission letter today *hooray* I have to check in at 7am though! Eeek!!

I am really enjoying my pre-op diet! I went to the fishmonger in tesco last night and got them to cut me a piece of cod that was 100g which they did, so I am gonna have that tonight with a small bit of mashed potato from my carbs allowance! Mmm! Just had a tuna salad for lunch!

I just had a yummy dinner! I steamed my small cod fillet and cooked my two egg sized potatoes and made mash, so then I put a thin layer Philadelphia over the cod and added the mash and then I had some steamed veg - broccoli, carrots and sweet corn! I'm stuffed!!

Looks good :)
At first, I thought it was a normal sized plate and I was like, Whoa Nelly! :8855:

I've been to see a physio today for my back and neck because I was knocked off my moped a few weeks ago, and I was a bit mortified as I had to take my top off to be assesses, but it Was ok - my muscles are all in spasm apparently though :(

Today I've had my normal slice of toast for brekkie, I had a turkey breast salad for lunch and I'm planning on having scrambled egg for dinner and some strawberries and natural yoghurt! Yum!

I'm taking my partner away this weekend for our anniversary, we are going to see cirque du soleil and stay over in birmingham. I can't wait! We are going to eat out so after careful consideration I've chosen to eat at Nandos and have one of their salads with a chicken breast - really looking forward to it :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend - I'm so looking forward to finding out how much I've lost on tuesday :)
