Just another update..
I had my nurse specialist appointment on Monday and Sue was absolutely lovely.
We talked through the questionnaire I completed & she told me the next steps etc. I need to see the dietician then Mr Woodcock in around 3 months. If he's happy with me then I'll go on his list which is around another 3 months.
The only problem is I wanted a bypass due to my eating habits. Sue seemed to think that due to my existing bowel problems I'd be looking at a band or sleeve. They are writing to my bowel surgeon for advice but to be honest I'm disappointed.
I'm a year into this journey now & it's been hard work. I only get one chance at surgery and don't want to go for the band or sleeve if they won't work for me. I really don't know what to do. If I have surgery that doesn't suit me then I'm reinforcing my failure.
Does anyone know of someone with a stoma having a bypass??
I think I might do some research to take along to my chat with the consultant to argue my case. Any suggestions?
Thank you

So you are looking at Christmas for op. I managed to get a cancelation for next Monday. Watch us both have pre op diet on bloody Christmas day, my mam has already predicted this will happen for me. I will be sitting with my milk while they had a nice slap up Christmas dinner lol. What I'm I like already thinking about a nice Christmas dinner yum yum. X x x

Suzie,
I won't complain if it is a Xmas milk diet lol. It's my birthday 7th Feb so I'm estimating it for then.
The nurse was absolutely lovely and although I know I was being assessed it didn't feel like it.
She did try to push me in with dietician on the day but she was busy.
I'll keep you informed as the appointments progress.
Let me know how you get on hun.

Glad the nurse is lovely it has put my mind at ease. Hope you get another app soon, will let you no how I get on on Monday x x x

Hi I had my appointment today :) everything went fine I was in and out in 10 mins. I have lost 10 kg since seminar and now so she is very pleased, also haven't had a cigaret in over a week. Got to have an app with the diet/surg where I will hopefully be given yes or no and if yes a date :) she said their should be no reason if I keep going the way I'm going for me not to have surgery. I'm so happy things are moving forward. Also there is a new support group at the freeman hospital will prob go to that one as it's only up the road to me won't be able to make it this month but next month I'm up for it, will post details on later if anyone interested. X x x

Hi wencho I would give them a ring just to see if they have received all the paper work from your 12 week course. If so ask them about nurse app they might give you a date their and then. No harm in trying lol ;) x x x

i got my app few days after i posted this lol...its for 8th aug at rake lane!
i cant wait...another step closer...phewwww!!!

me and my friend who is also on the waiting list went 4 the 1st time 2 the last meeting!!!!

Hi wencho good news on your app, not long now for you. The nurses are lovely they go through the questionnaire that you done with you and give you some info and if you need follow up test ie sleep app. Then we are looking at a 3-4 month wait till we get are date woohooo. It looks like things move fast from here. x x x

Still seems like a long way to go but it will fly by!! Were u set a new target weight or had u lost enough? I went to nurse at wallsend with my friend for her app and she has been given an amount to lose but someone else I know was just told to maintain weight but could still lose if she wanted to so bit confused as to what I should be expecting!

I think if you have lost a bit weight then you do not get a weight loss. But if you haven't don't worry they will set you an achievable weight loss. Because I had lost 10kg I didnt get set was only told to keep up the hard work and concentrate more on continuing to keep given up smoking (one and a half weeks quit). X x x
