February 2015 Surgeries

Hello all,
Back from a short break from Barcelona.
Adjusting to holiday without food focus was tough. Usually our holidays revolve around finding the best restaurant to eat, drink etc. Despite not being able to eat much, my eyes were constantly registering restaurants to visit!! Bizarre.
I failed to do my protein intake. (Yes despite the amazing food range). Found that despite my greedy eyes, stomach was often full after a few bites. I did eat a little of everything, also had cake, ice cream, mojita (went straight to my head).
This banana size stomach is truly wonderful. Despite not "enjoying" food, I love my new shape and body. I love that I can no longer stuff my face - because I would have.
Long live banana stomach!

I am laughing now girls as I have taken the photos and when enlarged can see they are only 4.6 so the one yesterday was only 5 not 50g. That's what you get from asking your mum who is 75 to read the label to save you getting your glasses out of your bag!!!

Ha ha!!!! Ooh this did make me laugh :)

Alison when you go into reply to message you get Advanced at the top by the send button, if you press on the advanced you will go to another page and it gives you the options there, press and find the photos you want to send they will, download you then go back to this page it looks like the photos aren't there but as soon as yours too they will appear. :)

Now this is interesting as we are planning a break to Barcelona in near future, any tips on accomodation? I am on sensory overload/boss eyed looking at all the options.

On another tack, my weight remains the same, no shift for weeks but I am reducing inch wise rather rapidly. I am exercising quite a bit and enjoying it immensely now my joints don't protest every time I move, already one an hour of Zumba this morning and find that I can now jump a bit so the moves are a bit more high impact, a real sweaty Betty afterwards but it feels so good

Posted this on another thread the other day but thought I would repeat it here for all February folk

"Before I decided on surgery I had got myself a personal trainer as I was so worried about how much weight I had put on. I was working with him for some months, getting very peed off that the weight wasn't shifting. Then I became ill and didn't go to him for a while, in the interim decided to have the band. My kids bought me some sessions with him for my Christmas present so I could go back to him post op. Today was my first sesh with him in about 7 months. What an eye opener....

Reality check 1 - when I started going to him, so, so worried about my weight I was 12 whole kg, about 2 bloody stone LIGHTER than I was when I decided to go for surgery a few months later. How/why on earth did I abuse my body so much in a few short months and put on all that weight? Where was my head?

Reality check 2 - I put on a weight vest today, equivalent to my total weight loss of around 25 kg and tried to do a few simple exercises, all of a sudden my knees starting hurting, I was breathless.....and I lugged that around with me all the time

Reality check 3 - I didn't measure at the start of my WLS journey, but the trainer had some measurements from my first session with him, so today, bearing in mind that I have been heavier its 5 inches off hips, 5 off tummy, 2 off each arm etc etc. In reality I must have reduced by more than that

Reality check 4 - there were exercises I couldn't manage previously, I thought because of my age. Nope, it was because I was too bloody FAT because I breezed it today....

Onwards and upwards, one of those days when you just know its all going to be good. "

Add from albums or something like that
Then press the green button on the top left hand side

Appt with bariatric nurse, not much actual weight shifted but fat percentage steadily dropping, no muscle loss, hydration good and visceral (bad stuff) bloody below the marker for high, so actually NORMAL!!!' Dead chuffed, no need for a fill

Great going Siana...

Pain is... Weakness leaving the body... Cheers and Regards... Kaps

And another little milestone, just did a Zumba class and actually jumped and hopped where I would normally just step or March because I couldn't manage the moves, feeling bloody exhilarated! I love my band. X

Hi all, how are you doing?
I've been in Whitby for the last few weeks doing my own rehab!
Feeling so much better now, no longer feeling exhausted all the time and starting to feel benefits of iron tablets these last few weeks, have more energy and can do so much more!
Loss is now 4 stones and have bought new clothes for work which was a very emotional experience seeing myself in the mirror and how different I look, how thinner I am. My partner told me I looked beautiful in a fitted skirt and blouse! Haven't worn a skirt for years!
Hoping to go back to work next week all being well - hospital appointment tomorrow will decide that!
Planning on a phased return, joining the gym and increasing food consistencies, doing some cooking. Been living on toasted sandwiches, jacket potatoes and things that go down easily.
Tried rice recently but made me sick!
My hair is falling out and looking thin compared to what it was. Getting it cut on Saturday but been advised not to put any chemicals on it!
Has anyone else had hair loss?

Siana, good to hear you are getting into Zumba groove!

Cherub, so pleased you are better. 4 stone weight loss is incredible. Silverware lining. You must look very different than your photo now!

I lost 3 stones and so happy to.fit into my old clothes ( from lighter life weight loss era).
Good luck with return to work.

I'm with you, Cherub, on the hair loss thing. It's not like I had a long flowing mane to begin with. ...:(

I have been recommended to up the proteins take vitamins, massage to stimulate blood flow and oil of rosemary

I've increased my protein and mine has slowed right down and the bits I lost are growing back.

Good to know, I have started taking an additional protein shake a day so averaging about 80g a day, seems like a lot? Should I do more?

I spoke with specialist nurse at the hospital, she advised that hair loss is inevitable due to the change in hormones and rapid weight loss. I also wonder for me, if it has to do with being so poorly and all the drugs I was on in hospital etc.
She advised not to buy hair products for hair loss as they wont work. She said there's nothing I can do and that it will pass.
So can't have a colour or perm tomorrow. My hair is currently permed brown/greying Bob. So can't cover my grey and it's looking so thin. Having a cut tomorrow and will see what hairdresser advises, whether to go for short style or shorter Bob!

Oh and I forgot to say that I went to sadie the bra lady whilst up north and got an amazing fitting and now have a bra that fits and is comfortable! If nothing else my boobs look fab! Lol

Sadie the bra lady, is she really known as that ? lol Nothing beats a well fitting bra though. :). Well done on your 4 stone loss that is amazing and it is good to see you recovered from all the problems you had post op.

Hi Chrissy,
Thank you!
The shop I went to is called 'Sadie' but she's known as Sadie the bra lady. I was amazed that I went in, told her I'd lost a lot of weight and was still losing, she showed me to a cubicle and asked me to take off my top. No measuring at all.......she went out and came back with a bra and helped me into it. It was an amazing fit and on the tightest fastening, so she went down a size so that it would be more adjustable as I lose more and would last for a while. I was going to buy a few but she advised only one and to hand wash at night and hang to dry as it would be a waste of my money buying more. It's an underwire which I've never gotten on with, she advised that's because they don't fit you right if they dig in and feel uncomfortable. At first it felt a bit like I was wearing a corset but thing I've lost more now and feels sooo comfy.
I felt great after the fitting and it makes new clothes look better. I whole heartedly recommend Sadie. Just wish there was a shop nearer home! Can't wait to shop for more!
I'm finding I'm looking at clothes more and wanting to go shopping to try them on! Feels like a kid in a sweet shop! #enjoyingthenewme!

Hiya, I am about a 5 minute walk from Sadie's shop in Consett. I am really worried about my boobs going saggy so nice to know she is worth going to. Pleased to hear you doing so well.
