paul's journey begins

Hi Paul
I discovered that scales are different as you can see with your surgery scales and SW scales ..
I use the ones in Boots now (50p) as it gives out a ticket for you to keep records which i will show at the hospital when I have my first band fill.
I found a difference of half stone between the hospital , home and surgery scales , so now I only use Boots as I would not want to be put off and disappointed by the other scales ..
Xxxxx

Thank you everyone was a determined effort this week
I had my check-up appointment with the Knee consultant today and he is Happy with the course of action and he will see me sometime next year he has signed me off back to GP to be referred back at a later date. and also found out that PORTSMOUTH AREA ccg and QA hospital are actively not doing knee replacement surgery for anyone with a BMI over 30 but told there is no such restrictions at Southampton. when i talked to the consultant last time he was happy to do the knee replacement but he wanted some weight-loss but not that much. I think i need to talk to Gp to confirm this as a talk to local paper(the news) may be in the offing as they are getting very interested in the way things are being run at the moment.

The hospital in Bournemouth do knee replacements for larger people also .. I was referred there a couple of years ago but he couldn't do it as I was to heavy and my legs are to fat to heal properly ..

That was what i was told by the knee doc on the last appointment as my knee was still quite swollen it is getting there but it still swollen a bit but the front is still dead and will take 6 months to a year for the feeling to return .

Brilliant loss ! Well done you ! :)

Happy news i just returned from the back specialist and have been given the all clear, I am almost healed(98%), But I have been told that I can go back to normal duties and a phased return to work next week EEK!!!!.
The best news is that I am holiday in three weeks time and worst I will have to endure public transport for the daily commute until I pass my driving test as my moped is a cat C right off and disowned if i ever got back on one again.

Well done Paul that's amazing ! That's a hell of a weight loss isn't it ! Pleased ?

I am over the moon is an understatement I am very happy after last couple of weeks, and being back at work this week should also help.
I also found out that I am very carb sensitive but I will have to up carb intake a bit so that I do not lose weight too quickly.
I almost forgot I also had my Sw 2 stone award and slimmer of the week

Hi All
Reached a small milestone this Week Halfway through My 12 week tier 3 Sw course with a total weightloss of 20lb in the last 6 weeks

This week was a 2 lb lost and a total 35 lb or 2.5 stone since the 22nd March and another milestone of 10% of my body weight lost this should keep my diet nurse happy.
On a downside I am back at work on reduced hours but i getting tired but on the upside I am holiday end of next week :D

Well done Paul ! Your doing a bloody good job !

To be honest I can loose weight up easily up-to a point at about 18 st then it get gets really hard going and also keeping it off is my biggest weakness . I think that is why my doc was more than happy for me to go through the weight-loss hoops to surgery.
Anyway i still have not figured out the best surgery will work for me ???

sorry forgot my manners i like to say a big thank you very much the for encouragement starryeyed and countrywench and everyone else it is very much appreciated I know how hard it is, as I am not the best at coming forward.

I also had a meeting with my company site boss this morning to see how things are going. I dropped the bombshell that I will be off for the weight-loss surgery and then the knee but did sweeten him a bit by telling him that it may not happen this year considering I just been off sick for the last 4 months. As my direct manager is bad at passing this sort of thing on, Hence the reason I have kept H/r in loop at all time and have the full picture because of the sensitive nature of the information and having solicitors involved.

Always good to keep them in the loop! I work for the NHS and had to do this... luckily it wasn't when I thought it would be (Jan this year) as we had a lot of problems at work with staff sickness and annual leave. Hope it all works out well for you! I'm finally back to work next Tuesday and will be happy to return to the chaos lol.

Huge well done :) I'm rapidly approaching my own stalling weight so I know what you mean. I believe my sleeve is going to give me the extra tool I need to crack it this time and I'm sure you'll have every success whatever you decide to do x

Hi All
Another 2lb loss this week :) i only hope i can keep it going this time the next two weeks will tell as i am away on holiday from Friday off to Switzerland for a week, so dieting will be a bit out of my control but i hope with the knowledge i have accumulated over the last 7 years i should be ok.
This will be my last weigh-in update for the next 2 weeks although i will pop into the forum form time to time. just to whet your appetites here is a pic i took back in 2005 :D also my avatar is a pic i took in 2011 in the desserts of Arizona.

PS i almost forgot i was slimmer of the month again that two in a row now.
