Hello everyone!
I hope you are well Shell hun :)

I am so bloody fed up, I haven't heard a flaming thing!, no appointment has come through, no letter or phone call from the dr not a sausage!! I have no idea who to ask what's happening (I daredn't ask dr again as he was told off & had his knuckes rapped for referring me to a surgeon & wasn't amused eeeks) I can't find the address of Horsforth weight management anywhere so am stuck in total limbo still (& still So upset it took 5 weeks to be told dr had referred me incorrectly so all that time down the drain & wasted) I do sometimes feel like it will be too much for me to deal with as I am getting so upset over all this waiting & wondering but am just hoping once I have a bit of an idea what is happening I will get my mental strength up again - fingers crossed. This postman watching & waiting & waiting is wearing me down now though......

Linda I know just how you feel & can really empathise babe but please please please go for your appointment! you have come this far don't go turning back now & just see what they have to say to you before panicking, everybodys stories are all so different, presently it feels like we are in a frighteningly long pitch black tunnel not having the slightest idea of what's going to happen to us doesn't it? but hey you are a little further in the tunnel now & after Friday will be a little nearer the light at the end of that tunnel YEAH!!! :) So get yourself off & get them told 'your' story as best you can, & at least you will then have a general idea of what's going to be happening - otherwise you might sometime in the future be saying If only I'd of gone to that appointment.... we are all here for you !! :)
Love Vicky

Hi Vicky thanks for your message, it helps when there is someone in the same boat. I think with working early shift this week and only grabbing 5 hours sleep each night I am feeling vulnerable and let things get to me....until the GP said I had been trying since feb 2006 I never realised it was so long. It only takes one person to understand and make the decision which can change our lives....and you know if you wait for the postman the news will come via the phone....its sod's law.....you try and keep positive to you most definitely are not on your own....((hugs)) Linda x

Hi Vicky,

I'm good thanks. Can you ring your PCT and ask them for the contact details for the clinic? That's what I'd do ;) Or have a look on your PCTs website, it might be listed on there.

Linda I'm with HC, if I wasn't working up in Cumbria on Friday I'd drag you there too!

I was sent to Weight Management at Hope hospital with Dr. Weinkove. That was same as Lipotrim or Cambridge , milk shakes which tasted so bad to me that I was being sick at the very thought of them so I didn't even attend again after my first appointment. I just went back to my GP and told him I couldn't tolerate them at all and I was so upset as I thought my last hope had gone, but he immediately reffered me right back to the PCT and within 3 weeks I had my funding in place.

Lol red wine i did lipotrim for 4 months but woke one morning thinking i just cant do this anymore. Dr weinkove has now retired and Dr New doesnt use lipotrim people may be pleased to hear.

Red wine I can imagine how you felt I am gagging at the mere thought of it! Glad you got your funding and so quickly as well.

HC I am very pleased to hear Dr New does not use that idea.....

xx

Hello everyone!!

Omg that sounds absolutely gross!! ugh!!! as if anyone could do that for a long time!!! even the thought of it is enough to have us all running to the nearest take away shop!! lol
Well done red red wine on getting your funding! fab news!!!!!!

My hubby rang the drs surgery for me yesterday & the receptionist told him the referral to weight management had definately been sent off on 31st July so I am feeling a little better now - I've come to the conclusion it's when I haven't a clue what's happening is when I start panicking & imagine alsorts of scenarios such as the referral being lost under a pile of books & forgotten about or appointments going to the wrong addresses etc (not outrageous scenarios though as they have happened to me in the past!) so am a bit happier 'for the minute' rofl.
Good Luck for Friday Linda!!! we are all rooting for you!!

Love
Vicky

Thanks vicky just read your PM. What hospital are they sending you to for the weight management? When I found out which one I rang the hospital asked for the Bariatric clinic and then asked how long from the referral being received was I likely to be contacted they told me 4 weeks and it was and it took a lot of anxiety off my mind. Give them a call.... Linda xx

Well I am back from my appointment, yes HC Dr New is lovely. We had a chat and he said he wanted to try Reductil AGAIN and 300 calorie diet. This was my biggest fear. I spoke some more to him and he then said I would be a good candidate for banding/bypass but he wanted to make sure that in two years time I did not regret it. He is, therefore, referring me to speak to a pyshcologist and the surgeon to ensure all bases are covered. He did say at this stage he did not know if bypass or banding was the way forward he felt on one hand bypass would be better but there are more side effects, hence the reason I am meeting with the surgeon. So no reductil, no 300 calorie diet I just need to wait for my appointments for surgeon etc which he said would take no more than 6 weeks and then back to him. He is referring me to the surgeon that specialises in bypass over the normal surgeon he uses as he has more experience.

I have to say I had a horrific journey to and from the hospital lucky I set off in plenty of time as the motorways were all jammed to a standstill I was stressed when I arrived.

Going to have a well deserved cup of tea.

Yay Linda well done you for standing your ground on the Reductil! Told you you could handle it ;)

6 weeks is great, it will fly by. Came down the M6 today and it was horrid looking northbound, so can sympathise (luckily I missed it, went northbound at around 8am when it was still quiet). Bank holiday weekends!

Thanks shell I feel a bit rotten though for not wanting to try what he suggested, I dont want him to think I forced his hand....but I know me better then anyone I suppose...Linda x

Well done on staying strong Linda - sounds like the appointment went well and just think you are one stage nearer now!! Enjoy your well deserved cuppa x

these doctors are stubborn, if he really wanted you to do the reductil, he would have stuck HIS ground, so don't feel rotten.

Thanks for that it makes me feel a bit better. He wrote something down in my file and asked if I had read it and I said no (I normally do but was too busy trying to remember everything) and he said I have said you should have it. I cannot wait for the copy of the letter he sends to the GP etc, he said it would be long and garbled and started dictating it there and then as I walked out the door, hope his secretary is not on annual leave next week so I get a copy quickly lol....typical bank holidays get in the way....its starting to sink in more and more as the day wears on....but until I get a surgery date I will not sit back and relax its not in my nature, I wish I had a rubber hammer right now to knock myself out for a bit I will be shattered at work later. poor people of preston having me looking after their welbeings....lol........yeehaw......Linda x

linda did he say which surgeon. His sec is back on tue after annual leave. and the surgeon who i think is the one who specialises in bypass on the 1st sept.

Hi HC no he just asked which was the easiet hospital to get to and then said he wanted me to see the one that specialised in the bypass. Have you seen your surgeon yet and did you have to see phsychologist? I still wont believe it until I am on the table I tend to look on the black side of everything....he was really nice though....Linda x
