How long is the surgery?

Hi I have just joined minis a couple of days ago and am addicted (been reading for weeks). I just wondered how long the gastric bypass op takes. I am waiting for funding from the pct. Hopefully it won't be too long before I am able to join all those on the loosing side. I would appreciate any guidance anyone could give me. Thanks.

Most RNYers I know say it takes an average of 1.5-2 hours. Some, of course, are longer -- but that's what they tell me is the average.

It;s around 2 hours, depending on various factors. If a gall bladder is being removed, it can be much longer.

Thank you Brunetteandred luckily I had my gall bladder removed about 5 years ago so it should be quite straight forward. The only problem I have is I have Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease that was picked up when I was at the obesity clinic last year so I hope that won't cause too many problems.

It all depends on you and the surgeon; anything from 45 mins to 3 hours. Mine took 1.5 hours.
