Well went to my docs this afternoon, to ask for WLS. Fully Prepared with all my notes and took husband along for moral support to wait for me outside.
Went in - ...................
and promptly burst into tears, so all my prep went out of the window. Doc was FABULOUS - she is young and thin but seemed to understand. She read my notes, we went through everything that I had done, and she promptly filled the forms out there and then. She said that she couldn't forsee any problems and that I meet all the criteria, and she would get the forms sent off to Mr Ackroyd at Sheffield.

WOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!
Now I am really scared lol.

Anyone had op done by Mr Ackroyd - what was your experience please?Gosh I am so relieved - first hurdle over xx

Mr Ackroyd did my op on the 19th of last month, i agree with mixman on how he comes across, a bit blaze about everything, but the day i had my consultation with him, he had 7 bands to do after seeing me, so bariatric surgery is as natural to him as breathing!
Ps he is very dishy!

I had my op done at claremont, had my own room the second night (the first night was spent on high dependancy) but the only room service i had was water and morphine!!

OK next update. I telephoned my GP today to ask aboutthe chances of getting a blue badge.
I asked if the letter had been sent yet ( bit premature i know) and she said no - not because it hadn't been done, but the rules have now changed. The original form from the GP referring me has to go to the PCT first now, not the Mr Ackroyd. Don't know what difference that will make. Maybe it will filter out the referrals that don't meet the criteria first before it gets to the specialist? I don't know.
Anyway I will keep you informed.

well done veronica first hurdle over. I know just how you feel did the same thing 6 weeks ago and I am so relieved and I do not see surgeon 'til next week but....... we are on our way.
