Hi All,

Hope you have all been keeping well - been really busy myself!!

Got my appointment date through for 2nd July - this will be my initial consultation with my surgeon. (all funding is in place - getting to the nitty gritty now - yikes!!)

Has anyone had / due to have prof mcmahon for their op ?

Would love to hear any experiences from Nuffield Leeds ?

Hi there
I am a newbie to this site. I am due to have my op with Prof McMahon at Nuffield in Leeds in August. I have had my first consultation with him and I am just waiting for a date. I have rung his Secretary twice to see if the schedule has been done but so far nothing. I don't like to keep ringing her as I am sure everyone will be wanting their dates and ringing her. The Prof is going on his holidays the first part of September.
He is a wonderful man, and will explain every step of the operation. I am more than happy to have his operate on me.
As soon as I get a date I will post on this site:sigh:

Good luck Snoopy, let us all know how you get on.

Any news from Staypositive yet?? Consultation was yesterday by my reckoning....

Keep ringing! Not in a nuisance way but once a week or so. I did and I managed to catch the lady just as she was scheduling and had one spot left which she gave to me because I was on the phone. Would have had to wait ages otherwise as my surgeon is going on holiday too.

Hi All

I know Caroline hasn't been on here for a bit she's been really busy but she has been in contact with me via text. The consultant says she is an excellent candidate for bypass surgery and that she's looking at a date in September.

Thats great news for Caroline (Staypositive for those who don't know!), I am so pleased for her x

Hi All,

Sorry I've not been around much the past couple of weeks - been a combination of not feeling well / being busy / being on hols - but am back now.

Alliecat - thanks so much for thinking of me whilst I was gone - just goes to show what a thoughtful bunch you all are, and Nic thanks for letting peeps know my good news - all one big happy family :grouphugg:

Was really good to meet prof mcmahon - such a nice guy - even though he was running a little behind schedule he never rushed me in any way and took the time to answer all my questions in depth.

Snoopy - great news on your date - can't wait to get mine. What date did you see the prof for your initial consultation - curious as to where my date might fall.

One bit of shocking news I have had is that I have severe sleep apnoea!!! The prof wants me to get fixed up with a CPAP machine before the op - but says it shouldn't cause any probs so not to worry - easier said that done !!!!!!!

Awwww it is so good to be back - even though I haven't had time to post I have still been nipping on to keep track of all your progress - you are all doin so well - those on the pre-op diets are copin fantastically - am proud of you !!!

Great to see you posting again Caroline, hope you get your date soon hun x

Thanks ali - all seems to becoming more and more of a reality - still have days where i don't think it has really sunk in.

Was good to speak to the prof - my hubby came with me and was soooo glad he did. Has put a lot of his fears (which he was keepin to himself a bit, bless him) at ease now.

Made him realise that even though there may be a risk havin surgery the risks of me being overweight are dramatically more.

Good to be back - hope you are doin really well hon.

Lovely to see you back posting Caroline, and great that things are moving for you! Fingers crossed you'll have that date in no time.

Thanks for that shel.

Good news on your blood pressure - are you sure you hadn't had any hanky panky just before your initial high reading - they say it affects your BP level. :ashamed0005:

You are doing fantasticlly well on the pre op - well done you !!!

Can't believe all you lucky people are so near your op now.

You'll soon be half the person you are now.

lol @ hanky panky, I wish! You'll soon be here, moaning about pre-op and craving food (just cooked a roast chicken dinner for my boys, cruel so cruel) just stay positive ;)

Will do chick!!!

Hope you didn't salivate in the cookin !!!!

:drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool:

lol it was close!

Morning all - a quick update.

Managed to speak to the sleep specialist at Hope hospital this mornin to get my CPAP machine - he told me the waiting list is about FOUR MONTHS :argh: !!!!!!
(but he can put me on the cancellation list)

Not being one to hang about I phoned prof mcmahons secretary to ask if I really do need the machine pre op.

She is gonna have a word with anaesthetist and get back to me - if he says it is all ok she said she will be able to give me my date !!!!! :sign0009::sign0009:

So sat waiting for the phone to ring now with fingers, toes, legs and arms all crossed.

Hiya Caroline

Sat her waiting with you........... got my legs crossed fro you too........ phone ring, please ring!!!!!!!!!!
